AI Club

I started my school's AI club as a freshman. ChatGPT was still the cool new thing, and not many people at my school were savvy with it, so a lot of what I did was connect the lessons to my students' passions. Our first Python lesson was "let's print a ton of money," a for loop that printed "money" 2,000 times. A basketball player who had never coded got it almost instantly.

The club has 42 members and was the first high school in Stanford's AI Tinkery network of schools. I cold emailed Lovable, an AI app builder, went back and forth with them, and got them to sponsor an 8-week incubator with about $1,500 in credits. Kids came in three to four times a week during lunch and built startups with their friends. There were six teams:

  • Beaver, a research GPT that puts everything in one place so research feels less overwhelming
  • FishSpot, an AI fishing app that finds the best spots and lures to use
  • Expirely, where you take a picture of your food and it reminds you before it expires
  • One Pager, which formats your notes to fit on one printable page, like a cheat sheet
  • Fit Check, an AI outfit checker that tells you what would suit you better
  • Study Bank, AP test prep using questions from old AP tests
